Amalgam

Primary Role: Diver

Secondary Role: N/A

Background

Lore:

Fear. The most primal of instincts. Only rivaled by wrath. It is an aspect of nature that is both understood and misunderstood, as it is but the tip of the iceberg, whereas the rest of it lies deep in the ocean to be discovered in its entirety. Such was the fascination of Dr. Rudolph Gregor, a psychiatrist at the Zaun Asylum for the Irreparably Troubled and a specialist known for his expertise on fear. Gregor always sought to discover whether fear is an instinct that creatures even needed to possess. Would they be better off without it? And how would nature conduct itself were to fear stop existing? These were among the many questions that Gregor asked himself. However, he would not suffice for the fundamental understanding of what fear is. In fact, his obsession with the topic became so deep that it arose to a fixation that's borderline insane. Because Gregor believed that in order to understand fear… fear, needs to be. As in, fear needs to be personified and take form. And that's exactly what he sought out to do. With the unprecedented amount of patients at his disposal and all the unethical technology that Zaun had to offer, Gregor wasted no time in commencing his passion project. Over the course of several years, Gregor would collect all the information he needed from his patients. What they told him… and what he extracted from them. And those that died even contributed their brains for the final result. And there it finally was, the personification of fear itself. Or, more accurately, what it was supposed to be. Because what Gregor neglected to consider was that it finding the fear inside the minds of people isn't enough. But it was also important to consider which minds contribute to this experiment. Of course, the only "patrons" were madmen. Freaks of nature whose brains were riddled with traumas and a shattered perspective on reality. Murderers who cannot tell bad from good and desires that the average person cannot comprehend. Those were the thoughts that made up the abomination that resulted from Gregor's project. Shocked with both awe and terror, he did not know what to make of it. And he was not even given the time too, as the abomination moved around the asylum rapidly. The thing was unpredictable, as if it didn't even think, but just acted. Like a leaf in the wind, it moved without thought, knocking around all the equipment and knocking out Gregor. When the doctor came to, he found the entire asylum completely devoid of life, with a few drops of blood here and there. As he was enveloped by the silence, he wondered the creature could actually think or just acted on pure impulse. It was hard to tell, since there was literally nothing left behind it to suggest either. But one thing is for sure: Ever since that story of how everyone disappeared from the asylum, which wasn't even the first, the border between Piltover and Zaun is no longer safe at night. People disappear without a trace. And Dr. Gregor? He disappeared too. Some say he was also a victim of the incident. Others say he went incognito. Whatever the truth may be, he's not here, as he was the only person to know the truth of what this phenomenon may be. Now, there is no one to tell the tale of what transpired; and no clue to provide a direction in how to approach. No clue… but a single one that takes the form of an ugly scribble against a brick wall. Who wrote it? Nobody knows for sure. But the message they left behind was very apparent in its writing, as it was but one word and one word alone: Amalgam.

Appearance:

As a start, Amalgam is pure, unadulterated nightmare fuel straight out of the imagination of H.R. Giger (The artist who designed the Xenomorph. I highly recommend NOT looking up his works unless you have the stomach for it). It is a quadrupedal, biomechanical monstrosity with an inverted head. It has three heads (a woman's, an old man's, and a bald priest-ish looking one) coming out of its shoulders, connected by spine-like tethers. It has metallic bone-like prongs coming out of its back. The edge of its tail is a upper body of a biomechanical skeleton-like figure. Like I said… pure nightmare fuel.

Abilities

Wanderer Amidst Nothing
P

Whenever Amalgam comes into contact with an enemy unit, it is ghosted for 1 second and collects Identity from them (Champions and large monsters yield 4 Identity), dealing 10 true damage to them. Amalgam suffers 1% less diminishing returns on movement speed for every 4 Identity has collected. At 280 Identity and onwards, Amalgam gains a flat 1 bonus movement speed for every 4 Identity. Amalgam cannot trigger the effects of Wanderer Amidst Nothing against the same enemy champion for 10 seconds, while non-champion units can only yield Identity only once.

Notes:

For those who don't know, a champion's movement speed gets reduced by 20% between 415 MS and 490 and 50% from 490 and onwards. What Wanderer Amidst Nothing does is eliminate these diminishing returns sequentially, and they stack additively. So once the player reaches 80 Identity, they have completely eliminated the diminishing returns from 415 MS and 490. From that point, every 4 Essence eliminates the diminishing returns from the hard cap, one percent at a time.

Oh and, if it wasn't obvious from the start, Identity can stack infinitely.

Miscellaneous Notes

In retrospect, I realize now that Amalgam's lore is a lot similar to Mundo's. Although that doesn't present much of a problem since this isn't the first time Riot had similar lores, as evident with Pyke and Nautilus (heck, they even admitted to it themselves).
